No one else has such intimate contact with the ocean’s energy as a surfer deep in the curl of a powerful wave, and few things are more destructive to the ocean than a black wave of crude oil impacting on the shore. Directed by Justin Wheeler of Frontier Productions and starring professional surfer Dani Garcia, “La Ola Negra” uncovers the dark side of ocean pollution in an exciting and unique story as told by surfers and other people of the sea.
“LA OLA NEGRA” STORY
In the small paradise of northern Spain, no one has such intimate contact with the ocean’s energy as a surfer deep in the curl of a powerful wave or a fisherman dependent on its bounty.
Tragically, it is these same people who receive the direct impact of the Prestige oil spill, Europe’s worst environmental disaster. Experience it first hand, as we follow professional surfer, Dani Garcia, on a year-long journey in the wake of this black wave and as he uncovers other contamination that is degrading the ocean more permanently than the oil spill itself.
Riding a wave of positive energy towards a brighter day, Dani and his friends bring to our attention the importance of a clean ocean for future generations.
